[nas] current state of NAS over latest distro's

Well, I don't use GNOME (or any of the other desktop environments, just 
a plain old window manager), so I cannot comment on that.

Anyway, I have always configured the applications use (e.g. mplayer) to 
use NAS. This should work under GNOME as well.
