If I understand you properly, what you would like is the
ability to set a default input gain, individually, for the mic
and line, rather than a single gain applied to both?
If so, then this would not be too hard to do.
The current config parser, ideally, should allow you do define
defaults for each input and output device, rather than just
'all input and output devices'. But that's work for another
day :)
Short-term, a seperate 'linegain' and 'micgain' could be added
to the input section to support this. The current 'gain'
would simply be the default if no specific input gain was
set.
