it's clear from both of the above that oss is being used by
the codeweaver plugin(s).

however a debug build of audiooss (1.1.0) produces no output when
it runs the mozilla binary.  (i edited the firebird startup
script to do the LD_PRELOAD directly before their execution of
the binary, in case one of their scripts subverted it along the
way.)
