[nas] libaudiooss and browser plugins

i just got all excited about my new faster server and clients,
and downloaded the codeweaver plugin so that i could run the
quicktime plugin from within mozilla firebird.  the movie works,
but i get no sound.  ah ha!, i thought, i need to run it with:
    "LD_PRELOAD=/usr/X11R6/lib/libaudiooss.so.1.0 exec firebird"
but, alas, this doesn't work either.

should i expect this to work?  is there a newer version of libaudiooss
that i should get?
