[nas] NAS 1.5 problem

i've had trouble trying to get NAS to follow the DISPLAY variable
for some time now.

i just ran the following tests:

    a) DISPLAY=:0.0 auinfo
    b) AUDIOSERVER=:0.0 auinfo
    c) DISPLAY=locahost:0.0 auinfo
    d) AUDIOSERVER=locahost:0.0 auinfo
    e) DISPLAY=realhostname:0.0 auinfo
    f) AUDIOSERVER=realhostname:0.0 auinfo

and cases a, c, and e hung, while b, d, and f worked.

on the other hand, case e) _does_ work when run on a machine _other_
than "realhostname".  (i.e. it works remotely, but not locally.)

this is all with nas 1.4.1, i believe.
