i think that the comments about splitting the nas package in
two are correct.  i.e. bug 241378 is correct:
    https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=241378

the libraries should be separate from the daemon.  this is the
case on debian and ubuntu.  i have no need of the daemon on
some machines, and no need for the clients on others.  there's
no reason to run the nasd daemon on my server machine in the
cellar, just like there's no reason to run an X display there.
but it does need auplay, just like it does need xterm.
